PHYSICAL THERAPIST in Pecos, Texas
Pay range $41-$60/hour
Requirements:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited bachelor's Degree program in Physical Therapy
- Personal Job-Related Skills: Knowledge of physical therapy equipment. Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Licensure, Registry, or Certification: Texas Physical Therapy License.
- Prior Work Experience: One year of experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist is preferred.
- Technical Training: CPR, ACLS if to perform cardiac rehab.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: The duties of the position require extended periods of standing and walking. Repeated bending, stooping, and reaching. Pushing and pulling up to 300 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds. Lifting to 50 pounds and heavier lifting in transferring or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
Description
Under the direction of a physician and Director of Physical Therapy, he administers physical agents utilized in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Performs new patient assessment.

Assures that the diagnoses of patients are noted and evaluates the patient's condition to establish a plan of treatment.

Applies the appropriate physical agents, therapeutic exercises, and ambulatory procedures, the appropriate physical agents, and informs patients on the treatment process.

Records and reports information on patient treatments.

Ensure that patient waiting times are held at reasonable times.

Recommends treatment changes to the physician if need is indicated.

Provides care appropriate for the neonate and the pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

Assesses and interprets data on neonates and pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients' status to identify patients's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provide care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.

Assesses educational needs of the patient, family, caregiver, or significant other and provides education to meet those needs. Applies the appropriate physical agents, therapeutic exercises, and ambulatory procedures and informs patients on the treatment.

Participates in the contributes to the performance improvement process for the department.t

Provides care by physicians' orders and established plan of care.

Ensure that patient waiting times are held at reasonable times.

OObserve records and reports to the Director of Physical Therapy and/or physician the patient's reaction to the treatment and any changes in the patient's condition.

Prepares and maintains current progress notes on patients.

Promotes a positive patient-focused attitude in the department.

Refrains from engaging in casual conversations with co-workers in open areas given patients and visitors.

Provides input into decisions affecting physical therapy practice.

Actively identifies problems and opportunities for improvements.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:

Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters daily.

Provides service directly to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere.

Interacts with Medical Staff members and other department managers continuously.

Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials.

Follows safety guidelines and policies for the Hospital District.
