Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dedicated team in Grand Bay, AL. As a COTA, you will support occupational therapists in delivering high-quality care to patients, helping them achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in patients' lives and working collaboratively within a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care: Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by Occupational Therapists. Provide direct therapeutic interventions to help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities.

Assessment Support: Help gather data and assist in the assessment process to evaluate patients’ progress and needs. Document patients’ responses to treatment and report any significant changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist.

Treatment Implementation: Utilize therapeutic techniques and modalities as prescribed by the Occupational Therapist. Work with patients on exercises, activities, and adaptive equipment to promote functional independence.

Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on exercise programs, safety techniques, and home modifications to support continued progress outside of therapy sessions.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough records of patient treatments, progress, and responses. Ensure all documentation adheres to legal and professional standards.

Collaboration: Work closely with Occupational Therapists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and effective patient care. Participate in team meetings and case conferences.

Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education and training to stay current with occupational therapy practices and enhance professional skills.
Qualifications:

Education: Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

Certification: Current and valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Experience: Prior experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required. New graduates are welcome to apply.

Skills: Strong clinical skills, effective communication and interpersonal abilities, and a collaborative approach to patient care. Ability to adapt to various patient needs and handle a diverse caseload.
