Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Microbiology Lab Manager to oversee the operations of our busy clinical microbiology laboratory. This individual will ensure that laboratory processes, testing, and quality control procedures meet the highest standards. As the Lab Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of lab staff, overseeing testing protocols, and maintaining laboratory accreditation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise microbiology laboratory staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels and high-quality performance.

  • Oversee microbiology testing, including bacterial, viral, and fungal cultures, as well as molecular diagnostic procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including CAP, CLIA, and OSHA.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate laboratory equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Conduct training and educational sessions for lab personnel.

  • Oversee quality control programs and ensure adherence to quality assurance guidelines.

  • Assist in budget preparation and ensure cost-effective management of lab resources.

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as infectious disease specialists and clinical staff, to provide accurate and timely results.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.

  • Certification: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Microbiologist (MCLT) required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a clinical microbiology laboratory, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Strong understanding of microbiology testing methods, laboratory techniques, and infection control.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of laboratory accreditation processes and regulatory requirements.
