Job Title: Central Lab Microbiology Manager

Location: Overland Park, Kansas
Shift: Days

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Central Lab Microbiology Manager to lead and manage our microbiology department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality testing results while overseeing the daily operations of the microbiology lab. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a strong background in microbiology and a passion for fostering team success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day microbiology laboratory operations, including technical and non-technical resources, to meet organizational and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with Regional and Division Directors to achieve goals related to service quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, and personnel management.

  • Monitor and manage laboratory resources, including payroll, supplies, expenses, and client volume.

  • Provide leadership in staff coaching, training, and talent development, ensuring a high-performing team.

  • Screen, interview, and select qualified candidates for open positions within the department.

  • Support the development of a healthy work environment by promoting positive team dynamics and fostering professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in microbiology, ideally within a central or high-volume bacteriology laboratory setting.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field.

  • NAACLS Accredited Certification (ASCP, AMT, etc.) is required.

Additional Information:

  • Reports to: MidAmerica Division Director

  • Why is the position open? Replacement due to retirement of previous manager.

  • Unit Structure: This is a standalone central lab supporting the entire division.

  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel within the division may be required.

  • Team Composition: Includes a supervisor and technical staff.
