Job Responsibilities of the Nuclear Med Tech
- Perform diagnostic medical imaging procedures using radiopharmaceuticals and medical imaging equipment.
- Follow departmental protocols to provide accurate diagnostic images for physician review and treatment planning.
- Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety standards and proper disposal of radioactive agents in accordance with Federal, State, and Hospital policies.
- Document daily calibrations, flood films, dose calibrator accuracy checks, and hot lab area surveys as required.
- Safely handle radiopharmaceuticals and follow radiation safety procedures at all times.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals as prescribed by the physician, following established protocols.
- Conduct periodic quality control tests and maintain detailed documentation according to hospital policies.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the core values of integrity, excellence, and collaboration within the healthcare setting.
Requirements of the Nuclear Med Tech:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or an accepted and approved equivalent program.
- Current State Licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.
- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) is required.
