Job Description

Job Title: Laboratory Supervisor

Full-Time, Day Shift

Hours: Monday - Friday, Day shift hours

Department: Blood Bank (Blood Bank experience required)

General Summary

Provides laboratory services to meet the needs of patients performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices. Supervises personnel and coordinates functions and activities in assigned division. Functions at least 50% of the time as a technical staff member.

Essential Functions

  • Directs, supervises, and coordinates technical functions and activities in assigned area(s).
  • Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Trains other employees in day-to-day procedures.
  • Assists in developing budgets and department goals and objectives.
  • Performs surveys, comparative analyses, research activities, and introduces new products, equipment, techniques, methodologies.
  • Consults with medical staff and other healthcare providers.
  • Participates in Quality Assessment Program and department-specific/system-wide projects.
  • Performs medical technologist duties, including tests and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree (Copy of college diploma and transcript required upon hire)
  • Required Work Experience: 5 years in Medical technology or related science with demonstrated leadership potential
  • Preferred Licenses: Certified in various specialties (ASCP or AMT)
