Job Responsibilities of the Nuclear Med Tech:
- Explain procedures: Explain medical procedures to patients and answer questions
- Prepare drugs: Prepare radioactive drugs, also known as radiopharmaceuticals, and administer them to patients
- Maintain equipment: Maintain and operate imaging equipment
- Take pictures: Capture images that a physician will use to diagnose an infection or disorder
- Limit radiation: Limit radiation exposure to the patient and staff members administering the tests
- Analyze specimens: Analyze biologic specimens in the laboratory
- Provide data: Provide images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation
Minimum Job Requirements as the Nuclear Med Tech
- One year of experience as a Nuclear Med Tech preferred
- Graduate of ARRT or CNMT approved Radiology program
- BLS Certification
