Job Description
Job Title: Hematology Medical Technologist
Position Overview: Currently skilled and detail-oriented Hematology Medical Technologist to join the laboratory team. As a Hematology Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and analyses on patient samples to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of hematological disorders.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and complex laboratory tests on blood and other body fluids using automated analyzers and manual techniques.
- Prepare specimens, reagents, and solutions necessary for testing.
- Analyze test results for accuracy and validity, and recognize abnormal test results or inconsistencies.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment according to established protocols and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality control procedures.
- Record and report test results accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test results and aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) preferred.
- Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, particularly in hematology.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment related to hematology.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Understanding of laboratory safety and infection control practices.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload efficiently.
