Position: Central Lab Histology Manager
Location: Irving, TX
Shift Details: Varies, M-F
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Histology Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Central Laboratory. In this leadership role, you will manage both technical and non-technical resources to ensure the laboratory meets organizational and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for developing and implementing programs related to staff hiring, orientation, training, performance feedback, and continuous improvement to enhance laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage daily laboratory operations, ensuring alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Lead staff hiring, orientation, competency assessments, and ongoing training programs.

Provide continuous feedback and coaching to staff to maintain performance expectations.

Achieve department goals related to service, quality, compliance, financial management, patient satisfaction, and personnel management.

Analyze and review department activities to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize resource utilization.

Ensure prompt and effective responses to customer feedback and implement improvements to meet customer needs.

Monitor department resource usage and address any variances to meet service and fiscal goals.

Collaborate with the department’s medical director to develop and review policies, procedures, and quality metrics.

Ensure compliance with accrediting agencies such as CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS.

Develop and implement policies and procedures, ensuring annual reviews are conducted.

Prepare and manage the department’s annual budget, monitor expenditures, and justify variances.

Anticipate the need for new methods, resources, and technology, bringing recommendations to leadership.

Oversee quality assurance programs related to test methodology, protocols, equipment, and supplies.

Actively participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

Develop and implement a communication plan to ensure staff receives necessary information.

Act as a resource to both internal and external customers.
Qualifications:

3-5 years of Histology Supervisory experience required (Lab Manager or Director title).

Experience in a hospital or central laboratory setting.

Bachelor's Degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biomedical Sciences, Biology, or Chemistry is required. Master’s Degree preferred.

National Certification as a Medical or Histology Technologist required.

How many total beds are in the unit? No Beds, this is a stand-alone Central Lab assisting the entire division.

Travel Requirements: Some travel within the Division may be required.
