Histology Technician Roles and Responsibilities:

• Functions independently within the scope of established department policies and procedures. Refers to unusual problems or issues regarding unfamiliar situations, test procedures, or complaints requiring supervisory attention to the Supervisor Pathology or other appropriate lab supervisory personnel.
• Provide technical assistance to lesser experienced associates and/or students performing internships.
• May perform charge role responsibilities according to established department and hospital guidelines.

Required:

• High school diploma
• Must sit for HT (ASCP) certification within 6 months of eligibility.

Preferred:

• 2 years full-time experience in histopathology and HT (ASCP) certification preferred; or AS degree and one-year full-time experience in histopathology and HT (ASCP) certification preferred; or Successful completion of a CAHEA-accredited histotechnology program and HT (ASCP) certification preferred.
