Job Title: Histology Supervisor
Location: San Diego, CA
Salary Range: $95,000 - $108,000 per year + equity and bonus
Shift: Day shift
Experience Required: 7+ years
Direct Reports: 3-5
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Histology Supervisor to lead our histology team in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in histology, with a strong background in managing a team. As a Histology Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the histology laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely processing of tissue specimens. Your leadership will help ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, and your expertise will directly impact the high quality of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of 3-5 histology technicians, ensuring high standards of performance and efficiency in the lab.
- Oversee the preparation, processing, and staining of tissue samples, ensuring accuracy and quality of results.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including CAP, CLIA, and OSHA standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the histology processes.
- Maintain equipment and laboratory supplies, ensuring the lab is well-stocked and operational.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff and assist with professional development.
- Manage the workflow of the laboratory, ensuring timely processing of specimens.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of laboratory activities.
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures to improve laboratory efficiency and safety.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, biology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in histology, including 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Licensure/Certification: ASCP Histotechnologist (HTL) certification is required.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of histology techniques, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
