Job Description

Histology Tech Needed in the Panhandle of Florida (Destin area) for Permanent and Full-Time Hire - CLICK AND APPLY!

  • Histology and Cytology Procedures: Perform tasks including specimen processing, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC, and special stains.
  • Sample Management: Ensure correct identification and organization of samples, blocks, and slides.
  • Reagent Preparation: Prepare and maintain reagents for various stains and histology procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment and instrumentation.
  • Quality Control: Adhere to department policies for quality control and assurance in all performed procedures.
  • Problem Solving: Utilize independent judgment and problem-solving skills to ensure accuracy and proper equipment performance.

Requirements:

  • Education & Experience:
    • High School Diploma AND at least two years of histology experience
    • OR completion of an accredited Histo-technology program OR Associate’s degree in Chemistry or Biology AND one year of histology experience
    • OR Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry
  • Certifications: National Certification as a MT (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) required. State license required.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of histology methods and disease processes
    • Proficiency in fixation, staining, and specimen sectioning
    • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
    • Ability to train others and solve problems effectively
    • Familiarity with laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance
