Job Description: Cardiac Sonographer
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound exams of the heart (echocardiograms) to assist in diagnosing and treating patients with cardiovascular conditions. You will work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality imaging and ensure optimal patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform echocardiograms (EKG/ECG) to assess the heart’s function, structure, and blood flow, according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Operate and maintain cardiac ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Record and document high-quality imaging results and relevant patient data in the electronic medical record system.
- Work closely with physicians and cardiologists to interpret results and contribute to the development of patient care plans.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all HIPAA guidelines.
- Educate patients on cardiovascular health and provide relevant information as needed.
- Stay current with advancements in echocardiography and cardiac diagnostic technology through continuing education and professional development.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in diagnostic medical sonography or related field.
- Certification in Cardiac Ultrasound (RDCS, CCI, or equivalent).
- Current state licensure (if applicable).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and team collaboration.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a cardiac sonographer, with a solid understanding of echocardiogram procedures and protocols.
- Advanced certification in echocardiography (e.g., Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - RDCS).
- Experience with advanced cardiac imaging techniques (e.g., stress echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography).
